Tin of Cookie Jar Spices

[Click here to enter my ongoing giveaway of stocking stuffers for girls. Giveaway ends Friday Nov. 20, 2009! Apologies, but U.S. residents only.]

This little tin of "cookie jar spices" seems a little extravagant in a way, but it's also cute and I think it would be useful. The tin holds a dozen packets of one-teaspoon portions of spices traditionally used in holiday baking: cinnamon (4), cardamom (2), cloves (2), ginger (2), lemon zest (1), and orange zest (1). I especially like the idea of the orange and lemon zest, because I have never quite trusted myself to get the zest from a lemon or orange without getting the bitter pith. Why didn't they teach us something useful like that in 7th grade home ec?!

The Crate & Barrel website doesn't list the dimensions of the tin, but I feel confident that it would be small enough to fit in a stocking. If you know someone who loves baking, this might be just the stocking stuffer!

What: Tin of Cookie Jar Spices
Where: Crate & Barrel website or store
How much (as of today's post): $8.95 (plus shipping)

What a cute idea. I'm not sure I'd ever use this but what a cute gift to give to those who spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

That's a nice idea, and the packaging is lovely too. I can see that paired with a recipe box for a neighbor or teacher gift.
