Chunky Animal Ink Stamps

Ink stamping and making art trading cards are among my hobbies, so I have a soft spot for cute ink stamps. This set is particularly designed for little ones (but not too little; it says for ages 3+) with easy-to-grip animal handles that coordinate with the stamped images. The stamps are 1.5 inches in diameter and are made from recycled rubberwood, which isn't surprising since the Stubby Pencil Studio website has the tagline "eco products for creative kids."

The set comes with five animals: duck, chick, cat, bird, and frog. It also includes a washable black ink pad. Now, the price isn't cheap -- it's $19.95 for the set of five. But you can tell from the pictures that this is a high-quality, well-made product. Plus, it you have more than one child of the right age, you can divide them up among the stockings, which divvies up the cost a little. You could save the chick for an Easter basket or otherwise stagger when you give these to your child over the year. Last but not least, you could go in with a friend on these and other stocking stuffers, to increase your variety without paying outrageous amounts for shipping.

If it sounds like I'm trying to talk you into buying these, I'm not really. I just think that it's possible to get high quality stocking stuffers without completely breaking the bank if you are a little creative as to how you go about it.
