Oven-shaped Kitchen Timer

OK, now this is clever. It's a kitchen timer shaped like an oven, with five separate timers corresponding to four burners and the oven itself, so you can keep track of separate dishes' cooking times with a sort of built-in "visual aid" so you don't have to remember which timer goes with which dish. It comes in silver, red, white, and black.

I admit I fall prey to "cute and clever," so I do want to be sure to mention a few potential drawbacks:

  • It's a bit pricey at $24.99 (hence it comes under the Friday "luxury" post). Also, although it's available on Amazon, it's actually sold through Target.com/ITC, so it doesn't qualify for free Amazon shipping. If you're interested in this, you might be better off trying to buy it in person at Target (although they have a bad reputation for returns) or perhaps Bed Bath & Beyond or a kitchen store.
  • It's fairly new, so as of this writing there is only one customer review on Amazon, and there isn't as much detail in the product information as I would ideally like.
  • From the picture, it appears that the highest increment you can set by is five minutes. When you're cooking a turkey and want to baste in two hours, that's a lot of clicks to get there!
So, if anyone has ever tried this product, I'd love to hear what you think. Or maybe I'll break down and buy one myself one of these days....
